Mitten Making
This winter, we have an opportunity for YOU to join us virtually for a “hands-on” mitten making workshop! The end result will not just be a handcrafted pair of functional yet stylish leather mittens, but encouraged and uplifted hearts!
After registering, we will prepare a kit for you that has all of the needed mitten making supplies including leather, liner material, sinew, yarn, needles, webbing, etc. You can either pick up your kit from our local office in Cambridge OR we can mail it to you.
Once you have received your kit, we will teach you how to assemble your mittens during four virtual meetings. These four meetings will take place on a weeknight in March. Each gathering will include a time to connect, a short word of encouragement, and instruction on making your mitts. We will send out a brief summary after our weekly instruction. You will then have time before our next meeting to complete the mitten making step for the week.

No prior experience is necessary to participate in this workshop! The only requirements are the following:
-
You have access to a device connected to internet that is compatible with Zoom
-
You have a decently sharp pair of scissors and something to measure with (measuring tape, fabric measuring tape or string and a ruler)
-
Passable hand-eye coordination
-
Teachable spirit :)
We are not setting an age requirement but generally would suggest if you want to do this with one of your kids that you are confident in them holding a needle :)

Registering for this workshop is easy! Just follow the link below to our registration form, and sign-up before February 8th, to secure your spot.

Additional Info:
-
When registering, there are a few options to allow you to customize your mitts (type of leather and liner, outlined below).
-
Need us to ship the mitten kit to you? Indicate you need shipping when you sign up. We will take care of mailing the package and will invoice you for the shipping expense. We are happy to ship across Canada and to the States, so don’t let distance hold you back!
-
The mitten template and process we are using comes from Lure of the North. They make amazing products and lead epic winter wilderness trips! We are grateful to them for allowing us to use their process and helping us get our hands on some great deer hide!
Our hope is that our time together will encourage you this winter! Yes, we hope you enjoy learning a new skill, but our bigger goal is that this regular rhythm in your schedule of connecting with others, using your hands, and being encouraged will help you draw closer to God, carrying you through the winter months with joy!
